Football

The redevelopment of Lakeside Stadium includes the following purpose built football facilities:

• a new FIFA-sized natural grass pitch for soccer
• a new electronic video board
• upgraded sports lighting
• a new northern grandstand
• new spectator amenities, ticketing, food & beverage and retail facilities
• improvements to existing buildings including the Albert by the Lake function centre.

Lakeside Stadium will also support South Melbourne Football Club (SMFC) – through improvements to soccer competition facilities at the venue and within Albert Park. This includes:

• Improvements to the SMFC existing tenancy within Lakeside Stadium.
• The construction of a sports pavilion for use by the men, women and junior arms of SMFC, containing change rooms for players and referees, a canteen, storage areas and a social room.
